We serve a diverse population of about 270.000 people in Møre og Romsdal county in western Norway. In addition to acute hospital services, we provide a wide range of specialist care from our hospitals in Ålesund, Volda, and Nordmøre og Romsdal, as well as from several smaller institutions.

​We employ around 6,500 dedicated staff across more than 45 different services and specialties. Every day, more than 2,000 patients attend our sites, mainly for patient appointments, elective surgery, and acute emergencies.

The working language at our hospitals is Norwegian. Your Norwegian proficiency must be sufficiently high to ensure reliability in patient care when communicating in Norwegian with patients, families and colleagues. We do accept Danish and Swedish as academic languages.

For positions that require a certification as health care personnel according to the Health Personnel Act, a Norwegian authorization/temporary license must be obtained prior to the employment and commencement.  More information on how to apply for authorization can be found on the homepage of the Norwegian Directorate of Health.
 

Before working at our hospitals, residence permit or registration certificate must be obtained. Nordic citizens have automatic residency in the Nordic countries. Within the EU / EEA you need only obtain a registration certificate. Outside the EU / EEA you must obtain a residence permit.

If you are a foreign worker, you must have a D-number to obtain a tax card. Anyone who is getting a D-number must personally appear at the local tax office with a valid ID and signed work contract. This also applies to Norwegian nationals who move back to Norway.

Our hospitals are surrounded by spectacular nature. The surrounding areas are among the most visited sites for tourists in Norway. Among the highlights in our county you can find the Geirangerfjord ranked as one of the jewels of the Norwegian fjords, the bird sanctuary island of Runde, or the spectacular snow-capped summits of the mountains rising nearly 2,000 metres from the sapphire blue fjords. Feel the butterflies in your stomach as you navigate the hairpin bends of Trollstigen mountain road, drive the Atlantic Road in a shower of sea spray, or balance across the Romsdalseggen ridge.
